Does anyone have or now where I can find a 'proper', i.e. American like, brownie recipe?

I have tried a few in the past and they don't turn out like the ones I've had in the States with the nice crispy top and gooey middle - they all end up to 'solid' and normal cake like.

Other recipes that I've looked at but not tried have shown pictures of brownies that in my opinion aren't gooey enough, including the James Martin one I saw recently on UK Food.

Can anyone help?

I have a wonderful and simple brownie recipe I'd be happy to share....I guess it's American-like since I live in the U.S. and this was my grandmother's recipe.

Should I post it herre or email it to you?

This is my grandmother's recipe and it's in US measurements.

Preheat oven to 350 F

1/2 lb unsalted butter
2 ozs unsweetened chocolate
2 C sugar
4 eggs
1 t vanilla
1 C flour
1/2 t salt
1 C chopped walnuts

Lightly grease a 13"xx9"x2" baking dish

In large saucepan, heat butter over medium flame until half melted. Add chocolate and stir until butter and chocolate are melted and combined. Remove from heat and stir in sugar with wooden spoon.

Using same spoon, beat in eggs one at a time, stirring after each addition until the eggs are fully mised and the chocolate mixture is shiny. Stir in vanilla. Add the flour and salt all at once and mix until blended. Stir in chopped nuts.

Scrape batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 mins. Let cool in pan.

Hi Suzzy Q
Recipe for brownies looks great and I am going to try it straight away. Can you please tell me at what oven temperature do we bake the brownies. I guess in farenheit and celcius. Thanks and I will let you know how they turn out.

Many thanks Suzzy Q for your recipe. The brownies were delicious. Don't suppose you have a recipe for American muffins?

Hi - the best brownies I have made were from a Paul Hollywood recipe - double choc in the middle keeps them gooey
