Hi everyone, can you help me out?
I bought some condensed milk the other day and was about to boil the tins for banoffee pie when I read on the side that I shouldnt boil these tins. They were the type with a ring pull lid. So I opened them slightly and boiled away for 4 hours, the top of the tins werent done but the bottoms were.
Now…… should I just have boiled them as they were, bought differently sealed tins or ………… what??

why isnt life just straightforward, they dont make it easy for you do they. cant help , but what a pain! I think you might need the none exploding kind, just plain old boring original tin. you could use yesterday's Ed baines recipe for key lime pie that used the milk just uncooked with the tins youve got though so all not lost.

Hi Dorz

I have boiled the ring pull tin on several occaions now, without opening it and have not had any problems. One thing I always make sure of, is that the tin is awlays covered with water. Just keep topping up the pan with boiling water and you should fine.

Hope this helps.

Relishmama - I had the same thoughts as I read the side of the tin! Coming from Zimbabwe where you dont have much choice it is sometimes a lot easier!
Reshma - thank you, thats exactly what I wanted to hear!

woo hoo here comes another banoffee!
