I think that's his name. Who is this guy? He just seemed to appear from nowhere - is he a chef, restaurateur, what? He's got zilst personality i'm surprised he got a job on this programme!

Your question - who is Simon Rimmer? oh caryn! just one of the most loved and respected chefs on GFL. Who also has taken time to post on here and read what we post as well.

He posted on here not long after his second child was born to tell us, hours before GFL could have him on the phone to tell viewers. a lovely man who cares.

Yes he is a chef, yes he also has his own restaurant, and has been in other TV programms, but you can probably find out more by reading his biography on the site.

What other TV programmes, what sense of humour??? He's so bland that's why I'm surprised he's on this show, perhaps he's fee is cheaper being an unknown guy.

Well it is not a man thing either I enjoy listening and watching him sorry Caryn you are on your own.

It's ok, just expressing my opinion anyway, and I still don't know this guy and don't like him and he's the reason I don't get to watch the programme as much as I want. I just wish they don't have him on the programme that often as he takes the pleasure out of me watching the show! I think the show needs someone like Paul H as permanent double act to Jenni as he gives as good as he gets as far as Jenni's sometimes irritating habit of meddling and interfering while chefs are cooking are concerned.

Simon Rimmer is going on me greatly - especially after the Elvis impression! Mind you, don't think him and our Jeni get on - but then again, maybe that's all for the cameras!

I'm not so sure that he and Jeni don't get on, I just sometimes think, from the looks on his face, that he'd love to say something in response, but can't because of the cameras.

Sorry, caryn, but I'm with everybody else here too: I like him and think he's one of the better presenters.

I think you will find that Jeni and Simon get on very very well, which is why they can do the routine that they do.

It is called entertainment, and done for our benefit.

I think I would say it is 2 lovely people, who both enjoy their jobs and care about what they do.

Mark? £20?

I think he's excellent, and I also think he gets on really well with Jeni. When the camera is not actually on him, but he is in the background, he is constantly looking at her and smirking.

I think there is tremendous chemistry between Jeni and Simon and they do a great double act. Leave him alone and pick on someone deserving of a xxxxging - like Ainsley.

For goodness sake, are you all relatives or friends of this Simon. He's so boring with a monotone voice and simply no personality that only people close to him surely would be his only supporters. If you're talking entertainment and pleasurable to watch give me anytime Jamie O, Ben O'Donoughe, Giorgio, James M, Paul H, Lesley W, Gennaro (Jamie's Mentor), even Paul Rankin, & lot more.
But please not Simon Rimmer (who?) & those Tanner Bros ( wannabee trying to get in on the act), oh dear!!!

caryn, everyone is entitled to their opinion on here, but please could you try not to be quite so rude, this could be seen as a personal attack rather than a personal opinion.

Can you not accept that not everyone, in fact so far not anyone shares your opinion, and Simon has been on the show for a long time, which is how he has gathered so many fans and supporters.

LOL Caryn! I don't think I am related in anyway to Simon, will ask my Mum if there is something she should be telling me, but I think he is great. I agree with Huggy - he has a great chemistry with Jeni and they are very funny together. Monotone voice? Can't agree. No personality? Are we really talking about the same person? Are you sure you have been watching GFL this week and not some dull chat show on another channel?

Ok, I try to keep clear of these type of threads, but this time I really can't.

Simon is a good friend of mine, a very good and extremely professional presenter. Jeni and him get on very well, on and off camera and he is one of the nicest male chefs I know.
I worked with him at Granada 4 years ago, and really enjoy being on the gfl with him too.....I know that we put ourselves up for scrutiny when we appear on tv, but personal insults do hurt and are unnecessary......so caryn (and I may be putting myself up for insults now) please understand that you can't be flippant about peoples feelings, even if they are on tv. Simon is a star, a very nice person and not boring at all.....!

Thank you all who have supported Simon on this thread, you are all LOVELY!

Good on ye, Lotte!

Simon's a top bloke & has a great chemistry with Jeni. Gotta love his knowing, ironic look(s) into the camera from time-to-time.

Loved your ice-cream tasting this week, by the way Embarrassed)

Suppose I'll be called a sycophant now, hehe.

Just switched on, Oh Caryn, you are of course entitled to your opinion but so is everyone else , and I'm definitely with them here. You could have Linda Barker , but you'd probably like her!!Cheeky
Simon is one lovely scouser how can you say he has no personality, he's so gentle and professional, and what is the tops for me is there is not a swear word in sight unlike some! AND , even better , he runs a veggie restaurant... which is where please?

Well I have had the error box all day and to tune in and find MY Simon (the hands) Rimmer should be in question, well...... Angry

I think he is great, tongue in cheek with Jeni and a great co host who obviously has some sort of affinity to Jeni, (they are the perfect double act, as she is with so many, she brings every one to life in different ways, bless her)

Anyway, as I said, I thought he was great until I met him, then I thought, WOW, what a truely lovely man, besides his cooking and presenting skills which are obvious, he just seems such a genuine person. I love him as much as Jeni.

I think he is open to attack by those who have every right to say so, due to his obvious popularity lately. I for one have sung his praises as has Kathy (we had a verbal punch up for who should get him first :D: I hope you agree, Kathy Wink and so many others having their thoughts read out on GFL. Caryn, I think you have a right to your say but seem to be heavily outvoted.

Simon... We love you xxx Mammary chef Wink

Oh Rustie has spoken, AND put it in a nut shell. Couldn't have put it better if I was up all night trying to write a proper fing to say. We have not insulted anyone, and Huggy, we all love Lotte too much to find fault even if we wanted to, I'm with you there. Mammas upset yes indeedy! I know we have freedom of speach but why do we need to express it on such lovely people.

Don't run too far Huggy, I'd miss you here. xxx will see Simon when he returns, DONT LISTEN TO THME SIMO. We all love you, all of you Cheeky

Carny you start off by saying "is that his name" so maybe you haven't been watching him long enough to judge properly. Have you made any of his recipes?

I find it strange that a chef so professional, polite and inoffensive can annoy you so. I have always thought how lucky UK Food are to have his services and, in turn, how lucky we are to learn from him and his imaginative recipes. He is brilliant and it would be a great loss if he was not on UK Food.

caryn.......no, I'm not related to Simon - although I do have his hairstyle!! Smile

Rustie....I wondered when you'd cotton on to that comment of mine. I'm surprised it took you as long. Perhaps I'll go as far as £25! Cheeky
