The book I use a lot more than any others is a 1976 copy of Delias Evening Standard cook book and the recipe i like to use most is her Goulash and Poormans Strogonoff, the ingredients I always have in the house, so no going out to find/buy ingredients i don,t usually have/use. Smile

Well mine is 3 years old now,it has 4 heat zones and a centre hotplate. The 2 front plates have a power boost, which means if you want something quick it heast faster. The centre plate i use for keeping warm sauces, whatever.I confidently use my hob all the time. The other thing it does is link a timer to the plate you are using,so when its reached the time you want it switches the heat source of for you, useful if you get caught on the phone or bathroom Eek Big Grin

Smile oh well its a matter of personnel choice, isn,t it ? what works for you, and for what ever needs you require. Rick Stein came to the Highlands a couple of years ago and he bought with him a induction hob to work on and though his assistant didn,t like them too much,he said he did. Smile so some people like working with them

On Channel 4 after Jamie Oliver at home, its a the usual food program showing you how to eat the same food you like but with less calories. It very interesting to see that they say, what i have realized over the years big meaningful diets don,t really work and earn a fortune for the diet industry. they show you how to adapt things like pizza to make them healthier and less calories.

Smile hi i like her too, not tried her recipes, there is a Every Day Italian cook on as well and had a lovely recipe for left over mashed potatoes. They seem to get very lovely ingredients like those big lemons, and its interesting to see how Americans shop and what shops they use.

I also think it has to be to do with how you live and cook,My hob has touch controls at the front, I don,t do a lot of stir fry,so a wok burners isn,t something i need, however i did i can always get a Module kind built in next to my induction hob,if i find i want lots of stir fry,s. I have always used Electric hobs, and find them very safe and controllable, I had Gas once it came with the house, but i got frustrated at it, when to put it on a very low burner it went out, if i had it on its lowest setting it was still too high and burn,t my sauces, and so I had a ceramic belling and i found it better for me to work with, so when I changed my kitchen 3 years ago the induction suited my needs and it works well for me.

Well I have had my Neff induction hob for 3 years and I love it,I find it very controlable i can have each hob it on the lowest setting without it going out or burning anything,it works with Iron based pans, you can test your pans with a magnet,if the magnet sticks they are fine. I use Cast iron pans like a Le-cruset and AGA made ware. it works when in contact with a pan and after you remove a pan it turns itself off after about a minute or so.Its safe because young children can,t twiddle with knobs and turn it on,unless you leave a pan in contact with the hob.

Blurgh But i have found it entertaining to watch. Top chefs sampling bad food for Reality TV Develish Smile

I like Gary Rhodes he was on Steve Wrights show on radio 2 today and he comes across as such a nice man, he sounded on the radio generally interested in learning about Indian food and he himself said he wasn,t keen on blow your head off hot spicey food and was pleasantly surprised that Indaian food wasn,t all hot currys and the Pork Vindaloo was nothing like the British version he avoids at home.

I love Tamsin too, I know people can only focus on her long untied hair, but i love her no nonsense family home cooked meals the recipes and i love her kitchen too Smile It looks warm and homely even her old kitchen had a warm appeal to it,because she had no fancy appliances to demonstrate, just home cooked food using equipement found in most kitchens. Hope they make more of her series. Next to Nigella she,s my next favourite tv cook.

A bit more of programs like The People,s cook book, because there is a treasure trove of people,s recipes throughout this nation and its so interesting to see what other people can cook and be recreated by simple family cooks like myself,I suppose thats the educational bit. Smile And i am a bit nosey, and love to see other people,s kitchens to see how they arrange them,so a show with home cooked recipes and a little look around their kitchens .

I have just brought new scales that don,t need to be plugged in or use batterys, they have a proper bowl and the numbers on a face with a pointy needle for the number,so much better than my smart modern looking flat scale that needs battery,s and changes numbers, when the battery runs low. I recently brought a micropane grater cost £18!but its a lovely hopefully last forever zester! Smile My bad purchase was a breadmaker, that i couldn,t get the spindle off to wash it and now it doesn,t mix the dough properly and makes rubbish bread conseqently Cry

I have watched a couple of programes this week, i must say i do miss Jenny,s professionalism with a sense of humour, i think its also a little posh with posh talking chefs and presenters and the setting in a hooray Henry cafe which looks like it caters for the yuppe type folks and like all tv food people Tana says delicious and even a wow while looking and tasting the project for the day. Still i,ll give it a good try.

Well since the title of the book is to be the Peoples Cookbook, and does not suggest traditional British food, then why should it not include food from people of all cultures who are now part of British life.
