Indeed most TV programs are made through a camera, including live shows like Great Food Live. The point that Rick13 was making though was a "live" program is just generally more appealing for reasons of spontaneity, unscripted events, including "disasters" etc.

This is one of the major failings of Market Kitchen. It is highly scripted and highly edited. That's not even mentioning how bad the script and editing are!

This causes the program to feel "stilted", cold and wooden. At times it is so bad you can see the presenters actually reading the teleprompter. This is hardly high quality television.

In fact, it would appear that the entire week's shows are recorded in a single go. This may explain why the Friday show seems to have the elast amount of "spark" Compare a Tuesday show with a Friday show and you'll see a marked difference, week after week.

This programme simply disappoints. It IS a FATUOUS programme.

My, my InsideR - that summarises it in a nutshell, doesn't it!

Regardless of how awful Market Kitchen is, though, JackW makes a point..there should be room for both GFL and MK.

UKTVFood could use GFL to bring in viewers to pay for the production costs of Market Kitchen. That way everyone is happy and viewers will return to the channel!! Smile Smile

Yes, this is wehre I read the idea about just switching some of the repeats around and insert GFL into the 6pm timeslot! Smile

Could I add my vote to that? It won't affect or upset the Market Kitchen people and then we could still have some of the daily dose of all those great chefs, recipes and Jeni's fun.

Please??

PS When is this barfeoot contessa program shown?

My earlier post seems to have disappeared?? What I was trying to say with no offence is that the points everyone are making seem not to be anything extraordinary, in fact they seem to be common sense.

Should a program be designed to attract viewers? It would seem idiotic not to? So prodigals point is well taken. They seem to design the program with all the elements to drive viewers away...it certainly grates on me. That's why I would guess so many people think this is the worst food programme ever.

I work in the hospitality industry and I would desparately like a daily food programme that could engage my strong interests in cookery. Market Kitchen is just too sloooow and boooring to keep up any level of interest.

And I might add that having the same guest chef for an entire week is a bit much. this was tried years ago on Good Food Live with the concept of a "co-host" and that was canned to.

A fast paced, live program with two or three different chefs all interacting each day is what would be nice. I don't even mind the suggestion I read somewhere on this board for Gary Rhodes to be moved aside for Great Food Live repeats.

I agree entirely, there's no need for a boycott. That's tantamount to what has already occurred with the dwindling viewership.

What we need to do is encourage UKTVFood to take the necessary steps to restore a flagship program that can ATTRACT viewers, not REPEL them.
