Great show tonight-particularly liked the vodka segment-they all seemed to forget they were on the tele! Tom tried to keep things together but his 'tastes a bit mecidinal' gave it away! Loved it Smile Smile Smile

Loved last nights show-watched the MKextra this morning too.
Matts octopus looked fab after it'd been cooked. Everyone seemed more relaxed as well-I also think Tom and Matt are looking good as a team.
I'm looking forward to tonights episode-the brothers are getting more into it and having fun-brill! Didn't much fancy their Black Rice though.

There wasn't a lot of interaction between them to be honest. They rarely seemed to do anything together. The focus was on the 2brother chefs. I've never seen them on the tele before so it wasn't as smooth as it could have been, everybody has to start somewhere, but it's Spanish tapas which I liked and gets away from the usual types of cooking. They got better towards the end of the show, mind I watch the MKextra in the mornings as well so I see more.
It'll improve as people get used to each other I expect but I still love to watch the show.

Hayseed - which is what MK does, to my mind. The presenters link they don't overpower or take over the show. Thats left upto the chefs and features.
I can't say I've ever seen the 2 brothers before but everyone has to start somewhere and the more they get used to tele the more comfortable they'll get.
It's another style of cooking they're showing us - Spanish instead of the usual Italian, Chinese etc.
I'm still a fan and enjoy the show a lot.

MK makes me laugh too but in a good way. I for one would hate to see MK become just another formatted cooking programme with a presenter becoming the focus, which is what the majority of you seem to want, why? I get the message its no GFL for you but I wouldn't want it to be. Granted I only caught a few of the end episodes but couldn't watch them all through- didn't seem to be too much cooking going on- chefs never seemed to be allowed to explain what they were doing.
MK is a more natural informal type with the focus being on chefs and recipes and non-professional presenters linking not taking over. I like it when they cook something as it's not cheffy and gives us lesser mortals hope. As for it being in one particular market wouldn't most people realise that they can get the produce from their own local markets and this is just an example of what produce is out there and to use them more, like the piece they did last week about regenerating other markets north and south.
I've always had to cook but I've never before tried a TV recipe but this show has involved me and thats got to be a good thing. Members of the public are involved and are used rather than looking like 'rabbits caught in headlights', I'm particularly thinking of a James Martin programme. Thats what MK has done for me, I'm looking at other progs and comparing and yes some are good but different usually celeb chefs or profi presenters.
I've never joined an online 'discussion' before but obviously I feel quite strongly about this prog. weird!
Anyway it'll be interesting to see how Tana gets on with Matthew this week but I hope if it doesn't work MF and TPB will get back together as I do enjoy their stints better.

I'm a fan of MK and have been from the 1st prog. I've seen them all except when I was on hols for 2weeks. I particularly enjoy the weeks TPB and MF are on as their rapport and style is more entertaining and their adlibbing is a joy.
When I read the postings most detractors say they don't watch the show any more and haven't for some time but then they go on to slate it anyway. Just an observation.

I watch MKextra every morning and I think it's entertaining. I have to say though, more so when Tom and Matthew are on, they both seem to have a natural wit and rapport. Angela also played her part and they were all enjoying themselves. The public were also good to watch - they didn't seem to be there just to make up numbers but actually learnt something and were made comfortable enough to interact naturally rather than look to be told to do and say something for effect, and were really pleased with their efforts and the encouraging comments from a top chef.
Judging from comments made previously regarding improvements that could be made, there is not so much if any background noise now, the masterclass competetiveness seems also to be less. Although I think Tom and Matthew enjoy it and have kept it in their weeks. But Tana and Matts' weeks, I noticed, not so much. And other little things have improved from the 1st shows - I believe so anyway. Smile Smile

Just watched MKextra and enjoyed it as ever. Recipes are quick and easy and it looks like people are having fun. Whats wrong with that? Smile

I'm looking forward to T+M presenting this week. I was starting to think I was the only one to like it. I've watched it from the start as I saw the ads for it and they looked good. Then I was interested to see what others thought and it seemed nobody had a good word for it.
I knew it was my cup of tea, though, when T put his finger in his eye after chopping chillies! And to be honest sometimes his dishes look so rustic it looks like a cows put a hoof in it. But maybe, as a non foodie, I look at it more as entertainment than a purist food/recipe show. And top chefs don't seem so scary anymore. Most look like they're having a good time and enjoy passing on their tips. Smile

I watch MKextra in the mornings and I find myself mostly smiling all through. I agree that TPB and MF make a better team, chaps together maybe or perhaps because neither of them claim to be chefs?, and they do seem to have more fun. I've also tried a few of the recipes-I like that most stuff is simple and although theres no recap of how to make it-it's all on the website. I've also enjoyed Diana Henry having a bigger part rather than just out in the market.
I don't watch MK primetime, as I prefer other entertainment, but I still enjoy it next day.
I've never really watched food programmes, Masterchef Goes Large 2007 was great but thats about it. I caught GFL a few times but never really got in the swing Jeni seemed loud and overpowering but thats 5years on...
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. Smile

I know I'm in the minority judging from the rest of the messages but I enjoy market kitchen. I've picked up some good tips and made Bryns scrambled eggs which were delicious. I was a bit concerned about Matthew and Tom 1st day-Matthew seemed a bit bossy-but then he relaxed a bit. I thought Tom was quite amusing. DGK
