"I just love his no nonsense attitude towards food....He has looked around alot of apartments in new york and most don;t come with a kitchen and those that do are half the size fo a urinal...He knows how to shock, yet entertain...and punch without worry at those who may try and shout him down."

Can you pls explain what you actually mean here??? I really can quite understand what you said. Confused

Also how did you know about his apartment hunting??

My opinion of Gordon is that he's a big fat hypocrite!

He villified & talked down on "tv chefs" saying they should all be in their kitchens instead of prancing about in front of tv cameras!!! Embarrassed

Well.....look who's been dominating & "prancing" about on the TV screens these days...none other but Gordon Ramsay, the chef turned tv actor! Blurgh

I like Rachel & her show. Love her uncomplicated dishes & the ingredients she use are all very easy to obtain.

She's easily one of my fav cooks on telly right now.

Hasn't she got the most flawless skin!

I'm so happy to see Ian Wright as guest on GFL, to me he's one of the best presenters on UK TV history.

In case some of you don't know him he presents Globe Trekker on Discovery Channel & he's great!!! Big Grin

I hope he does more TV appearances esp on terrestial channels.

I love Nigel & his food.

It's a shame Nigel doesn't want to do anymore cookery series. Frown

Of all the days of days why did I have to miss that ep???? Frown I switched on at 6:30 as always only to find out it was moved to 5:30!
Mad

Would have been excited to see a FM doing their stuff on such program now it looks like it'll be a year before I get to see the repeats of this series. Frown

Anyway well done Carol, try again next time, why not.

I've dipped in and out of Food Uncut few times and like the others can't get myself to sit it out for the full show & have stopped altogether. For me these are the first things that put me off it:

1. Studio setting - very clinically bland...all I can see are just white all around.

2. Presenters - no consistency & the people who gets to present the show just do not have the connection with the audience/viewers imo.

3. far too much verbal interaction amongst the bland presenter/s & guest/s before they even get to the actual cooking....and when they do the food they cook just seem uninteresting.

4. it just seems to be much ado about nothing really

IMO waste of programming time better used for an extension of GFL instead & simply incorporate whatever message they're trying to send through FU.

Excatly what I'm most annoyed about that Jamie has been massively overlooked last year while Gordon Ramsay got a pathetic OBE for like big nev said "doing bugger all"!. Mad

FOr a start Jamie deserved far more than an MBE in 2003 for that project he did which actually had a direct effect on the improvement of peoples' lives.

And then with his School Dinners last year which is an equally important if not more than his Fifteen project in 2003, he got no recognition for that whatsoever!

What are these "people" at the top who are responsible for bestowing such honours could be eating themselves that have severely affected their brains I wonder...garbage no doubt which was what they've been feeding our children for years themselves.

Funny I thought about roast rib as well last night & my sis thought it's yummy! Last count there are 11 adults & 3 children so I've to shop around & see where would be the best price for it. Next of course is to find out how to cook it to perfection as I've never cook one before.

I'm also toying with the roast duck idea...hhmmm.

I'm trying to find out the general consensus here. I have mixed guests for lunch & couldn't decide what meat to serve. I didn't include turkey because I don't like it.

Do you think you could help me decide by stating which would be your choice?

And kazwilkie ...ahh forget it you're not worth it, another one who tends to make a sweeping wrong conclusion & quickly jump on the bandwagon of point scoring!

Just one thing kazwilkie - I put my money on you that you haven't even gutted & cleaned fish before & I'm not even talking about small ones like sardines!!! I'm talking about large ones where you cut them up & you see small fishes inside them which they galloped up for their lunch! And yes I was squemish but did it so my mom can buy me a pair of new earrings for my coming 13th b-day (many moons ago). After that experience cleaning fish for me even now is nothing although I prefer the fishmonger to clean them up for me now & why not if they're happy to do it for you although I can teach some of them a thing or 2 about gutting fish.

Like I said I grew up in a country where people buy fresh food everyday before all mod cons tookover.

So don't talk to me about not knowing where my food comes from! Angry

moden - are you sure you can read?? If the answer is yes, then read again & again my posts until you comprehend exactly the contents of my replies, ok?

And then highlight for me :

1. where I said that I believe that food comes in little plastic packages.

2. where I said I find skinning rabbit offensive.

Being squemish & being offensive are completely different from each other, check your dictionary if you're not convinced.

In the meantime save your misguided preaches to yourself, ok! Angry

Sonia, we love fish/seafoods so it'll be interesting to know which fish restaurant you're referring to & taking on board your comment about it.

I'm not one to keeping things to myself & will say so if things are not satisfactory or up to the standard as restaurants tend to claim these days. But agree that diplomacy is key.

...and knightline, you don't know me and I can tell you that I probably know more about raising chickens, pigs, about fish, & seafoods more than you'll ever know!!! So don't you dare lecture me.

My family originated from the Far East where animals et al are part of our daily lives, it's our culture FGS!.

I won't apologise for being squemish, can't help it, what do you want me to do keep watching while throwing up at the same time!!!

I can handle anything else apart from seeing animals being cut up like that but I don't disagree with that at all!! Of course it has to be done & someone has got to do it but I rather not watch it myself....and that's why I switched channel pronto!

Just so you know when I was a young girl I had helped my grandma & mom plucked chicken feathers & enjoyed that experience but when a team of men started to cut up a pig I ran back inside the house scared!!!!

I'm extremely a squemish person, so when I saw Mike tieing up something (I think it's a rabbit) on the tree......uuuugghhh, talking about switching channel before he says harakiri!!!!!

Oh Mike why did you have to spoil my breakfast for me????

windybottom

I urge you to show proofs that I tear EVERY program & presenter apart because if you can't then you're totally out of order & misguided! Angry

So I don't like one or 2 ( at the most) certain cook/chef, so what. Same token as when I like other cooks I sing praises about them too. I'm sure others do have certain favs & dislike also. The difference maybe is that I'm vocal about it.

But that's what the forum is about so we could all express our opinions/comments.

Please read back my posts in reply to the OP & you'll gather that it's nothing to do with dissing the show at all.
In fact I like Mike Robinson, that he could be presenting a maggot eating contest and I'll still watch it! Big Grin

So windybottom ( btw I think your username is rather cute) before you start generalising try to be more factual.

Have a nice day!
