Hi Fudges Mum. Yes i underestand exactly your point of view and I myself make the most of my chickens.I buy organic for special occasions i.e. christmas etc and have free range at other times, we grow a lot of our own veggies and we buy local produce when ever we can, but, this luxury comes at a price and it is one which i feel many younger families cannot afford and so therefore they should not be made to feel guilty about it,
My friend has been in farming all her life and she said that she could never eat anything which she feeds and talks to so we all have a different take on this one.
Thanks for your reply. Liz

Normally i love the programme Riverside Cottage with Hugh F.W, but last evenings programme made me feel very cross. I dont think that Hugh was prepared to take into account that many people simply cannot afford organic meats and I certainly would not want to eat its feet and its testicles. Many people rely on cheaper food production in order to feed their familys. I would like to see younger people cooking proper food rather than all the convenience muck which is on the market but there is no point being snobbish about it some people just cannot afford it Liz

Knightline i do have a grip on life and make it my business to know exactly where my food comes from,as much as possible organic. We grow many of our own veggies so I know how much space is needed. We grew potatoes everywhere in the garden this year and also in pots, loads more than the 4 rows Mike has planted to serve the restaurant and we just had enough to keep our own family afloat. I was making an observation which i think I am entitled to do!!!

Anyone can see that the organic garden in this show is about large enough to feed a large family, where is the produce coming from after this runs dry? I am sorry to be negative but i thin this programme is boring and has been made purely to help fund this project. I wish Mike would do something instead of enthusing about killing wild animals etc

I was just wondering why my comments about Ainsley had been removed from the message board, I dont think I was rude and i didn't say i disliked the man I just wish he could calm down, stop talking for a while and let the chefs speak for themselves. Liz

Mike Robinson is talking all the time about using local produce. everything being scoursed for his pub from within a short distance. What I find hard to understand then is that he has had a £30,000 kitchen built in France, dismantled and then shipped to England to be rebuilt in the pub. Why did he not use local tradesmen and import the equipment he needed. Liz

Hi Jenni and team
Just caught the tail end of GFL to day where one of your guests is co presenter of Beauty and the Feast. I have to say Jenni that i do not like their style of presenting this show and i feel that they do not seem to have enough experience in presenting or cooking. All our chefs have worked so hard to premote British food but these two women seem to criticise everything and to me are very negative definately not foodies!!!!!!
Love GFL Liz

I also purchased my sausage skins from the Natural Casing Co,ltd. We also bought the sausage making machine from them. Its very messy to use and takes two people to make sausages!!! having said that we do know what is going into them, now its just a case of getting the seasoning right. So far they are full of protein but not too much taste, i think the batch we made a couple of days ago will be tastier. Bye the way the sausage making machine was l36.50 and hog casings for breakfast sausages was 8.05 for yards of the stuff he he.

Hi Jeni, I love your prog.I have just been watching re run of yesterdays GFL. heard your comments on fishmonger not wanting to cut fish to size you wanted. I bought two huge mackerel, head on etc. Young girl tried all sorts to get these fish into those bags they make up, she bent the fish this way and that way but to no avail, so i suggested she cut the heads off then they would fit, no sorry she said i'm not allowed to do that we dont cut fish at all in Asda because of cross contamination!!!!!
Keep up the good work Jeni i'm still in my dressing gown at l0.l5 cos i love your show and cant leave it
