Hi all

Can anyone tell me if they have used silicon bakeware yet? If so do you grease the cake pan or not?

Please answer asap
Many thanks

Yes I have used them on the odd occassion but call me old fashion, I still prefer the good ol' metal trays/tins etc. I did grease mine only because I don't like to take chances. Smile

Thanks for your response Graca Queen. Due to the mixed information i have found myself off the net i think im gonna do the same receipe and try it with and without to see if there is a difference. I cant help thinking though that i too will prefer the old fashioned way as just looking at the item makes me skeptical however i will give it a whirl! Smile

I have heard they smell funny when in the oven. Let us know what you think Smile

Hi Grisinni

I can confirm i tried out my sponge cake in the silicon cake pan and the texture and taste was the same so no complaints there. However i had to gently just loosen the edge of the cake away with a rounded knife so as not to pierce the pan, whilst most of it came away easily on the underside one part of it did not and therefore a small amount stuck to the pan. Due to it supposed to be non stick i did not grease the pan on this occasion!. I cant personally say i smelt any funny smells other than the nice baking smell. I did put it on a baking tray first to avoid spillage. I think i prefer normal metal pans though but will give it another try but with lightly greasing the pan first. As taste and texture were fine i would not rule it out for others to try. Wink
