Hello,
Does anyone know if you can buy cornmeal in supermarkets? Is it kept at the flour aisle?
I am really into US cooking at the moment and want to make some cornbread.
Thanks.
Cornmeal is actually the same thing as polenta (in the ground form, not the pre-made slabs). They are both ground maize, and are identical! Polenta is sometimes easier to find in supermarkets... failing that, most Asian grocery stores will have cornmeal in bags near the bulgar wheat and couscous.
I bought mine from Morrisons, it is next to the spices, there is a range of nuts, spices, mainly in large packets, and it come's under 'cornmeal'. Hope that helps.... bye..
