I am having a dinner party and it falls on St David's Day so I would like to give it a welsh theme. For a starter I thought of Leak and Potato soup and Lamb for the main course but am really stuck on ideas for a dessert. Can anyone help me with this or have any other suggestions for the other courses. Confused

Hug Cheesy Leeks, as an veg to go with your main course. Very simple to make. If you like the sound of them, let me know and will send receipe Tongue
Have a nice St David's day, and dont forget to fill the house with lots of daffodills Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

I think your starter and main sound lovely (what veg will you serve with the lamb?)

Here are a few ideas for dessert.

Then how about a selection of Welsh cheeses as well?

The cheesy leeks sound really nice and I would love the receipe but as I am having leek and potato soup for a starter I would need another vegetable as well as leeks - still thinking about that one. Thank you for the dessert ideas they sound delicious and helpful because up to now I was completely stuck for any ideas on this course. Definitely have to finish off with Welsh cheese - hopefully Sainsburys can help with this one. My mum was welsh and if she was still alive I would be able to ask for her help so thanks everyone.

:
hug:
Cheesy Leeks
4 helpings

4 leeks
2oz(50g) cheddar cheese
2oz(50g) breadcrumbs
1oz(25f) butter

Turn oven on to gas mark 4, 350'F(180'C).
Cut off roots and most of green part of the leeks.
Cut in half lengthwise and wash under cold tap.
Chop them up.
Heat a saucepan with the butter, when melted add leeks. Keep stirring them around until they are beginning to get soft.
Tip into a ovenproof dish.
Grate cheese and mix up with the breadcrumbs and sprinkle this over the top of the leeks.
Put dish in the middle of the oven for 40 minutes.

I would serve carrots and potatoes with the lamb.

Have a lovely St David's day with your guests Big Grin

Thank you so much for all your help. I am really looking forward to cooking dinner now. It would have been my mum's birthday on the 24th Feb so our dinner party is not so far away from that. We will raise a glass to her and to you and the others that have given me ideas. Thanks
