Just thought those of us who are being accused of name calling etc could talk here. Then, without those who like MK who are accusing us of name calling couldnt be put out by our difference of opinion. And, we couldnt do any so called name calling...I am still at a loss...to see where that happened...

Anyways, what are you all doing with you spare hour or so in the day, any other new foodie show that has taken your interest?

I am sorry if someone comes to here and reads malice into this post, but there is none intended.

Do you mean that anyone who likes MK isn't welcome here? Is this yet another anti MK thread? Don't you have enough already?

Actually, No.

We keep getting people jumping in accusing us of name calling which hasnt been happening. Just like you have now.

Of course you are welcome if you are to contribute other text rather than untrue accusations against those of us who dispise MK.

If you want to post here along with us, do so, but without the rubbish that has been going on.

Would that be a problem?

Another one who hasnt read the link and cant see how many posts have been removed for attacking MK watchers.
How can you all complain about your anti MK posts being removed when you wont admit to how many of them have been removed because they were personal attacks.

Actually none of mine have been deleted nor has a lot others been deleted.

Apparently, some posts you cannot see when the boards close in the evening. You can see them again in mornings.

If there are these posts you keep complaining about, please tell me where they are and if they were so bad, why did you not complain about them...and why do you keep carrying on about them to us, the people who did not make personal attacks? Show me where I was rude to any of you for liking a tv show, sorry but that is just ridiculous. Again I have not seen any posts that have been personal or rude towards any posters here.

Please....how long do you want to keep this up...I jumped into a new thread to avoid the catfights, but in you come, you must enjoy this so much...

Being friendly on here is so much more fun! Big Grin

If being friendly is more fun on here why have you been so agressive? Why do you also swear in every post you make? Can you not read the thread rosti gave the link to and not only see the personal attacks that are still showing and also see that others have been removed? are you really that much in denial.

You want to start a seperate thread for people who don't like MK as Rosti tried to start one for people who did, and she got called all sorts of names because she did.

Shazzums, I agree, calling Rosit names when she tried to "get away" (as I have too) was and is wrong.

So why are you all doing it to me now and making it difficult?????
The only name calling and personal attacks I have actually seen are against those who like GFL and toward Jeni...

As I said, being friends here is so much more fun...but it seems you all just wont let it rest that the majority just dont like MK....

I think the problem is that there's so much cross over in terms of topics that it's almost impossible to prevent people from voicing their opinions. I happen to be someone who likes Market Kitchen and I'm happy to say that. I didn't like GFL much but that's me.... What I can't get around are the posters who continue to discuss the presenter of GFL rather than the programme. It's as if the programme was nothing without the presenter - and for a 'food' message board that's worrying.

I am happy to stay away from this thread if its purpose is to knock MK. It would be fine if any thread supporting MK was afforded the same courtesy - but I doubt it.

Hope you're on the Penfolds again! Wink

It would have been more simplistic if the title of your thread is -

"FOR THOSE WHO DON'T LIKE MK POST HERE"

Then hopefully you will not get contributors who are defensive enough to accuse you of being anti-MK or indeed beeing aggressive which I would never knew where that came from! Confused

Anyhoo, in reply to this thread, I don't watch this Food channel anymore esp after Barefoot Contessa run has finished. I just wait for weekend for Saturday Cooks & Something for the Weekend & only if I like the guest cooks at that.

Barefoot Contessa is back on here now through the week.

I havent seen those shows you mentioned...we get a lot of repeats here...I see where James Martin is on your telly alot, we dont even have saturday kitchen! Only 5 minute snippets as fillers between shows.

I thought I saw a post here before but can't find it, so if no one knows: FYI, if you are looking for GFL reruns I found a listing for it on UKTV Bright Ideas....

Baboush - I completely agree - I have now stopped watching this channel at peak times - I sometimes switch on for James Martin shows...but other than that I think the BBC have really excelled themselves with food shoes...Great British Menu, Masterchef and celeb masterchef, then there is the old steadys like ready steady cook - and Saturday Kitchen, something for the weekend !! I'm impressed...

Unfortunately UKTV have opted for a show format that excludes certain viewers (well everyone outside London) and lacks any "watchability" factor. Its a shame - as the guest chefs are all of such a high standard...but no-one seems to have a laugh and the presenters are wooden and don't gel well together...

I for one have reverted to UKTV Bright Ideas (Tamasin Day Lewis) and Beeb...more 4 are also showing come dine with me repeats on a Sunday afternoon

Come on UKTV...listen to your (fast depleting) audience....

Market Kitchen has missed the mark by miles!!!!

The F Word is great...but this is shocking...there is one celeb chef in the family and its not the member on UKTV food...

Good news for Australian GFL fans that are looking for an alternative to the dire MK line up, GFL repeats are now on every weekends. Below is the listings for June and July.

It's not boring! This thread was meant to inform people of great food shows that are still on the air that are alternatives to Market Kitchen. I appreciate it and have started watching other shows, especially Barefoot Contessa! Wink

I realise that I too have almost stopped watching the channel altogether (and hardly visit these boards now). Mostly watching repeats of Come Dine With Me weekend marathons on More4 and Greatest Dishes on Sky. Very sad. Such a pity as I thought the concept was good. Saw it referred to as Market Gorgon on another site which made me chuckle.

I was very much enjoying the barefoot contessa, sadly her series finished very quickly, i would like a repeat of those as i had not seen those before.

This weekend i did enjoy watching, nigellas forever summer, the hairy bikers and the naked chef and tamasin day lewis.

so hopefully the decision makers at uktv food have decided to put on a selection of shows for us to enjoy at the weekends, which would be good, something for everyone to enjoy Wink

Conch, MK has developed quite a few nicknames if you check out the boards elsewhere!

I too have sort of dropped off the "frequent viewer" category as I used to watch GFL Daily - but I still like to check in every week or so to see if things have changed.

The show DOES have a good concept, it only needs a few twists and tweaks really. My number one suggestion: get some laughs into the dialogue!

Here is the suggestion put forth elsewhere:

1. leave MK as it is in its current timeslot (or whatever, doesn't matter)
2. move Gary Rhodes Cookery Year from its current timeslot
3. place GFL repeats on in place of Gary Rhodes at dinnertime

This would seem to satisfy the bulk of all posters on all these threads, wouldn't it? Or am I missing something here?

I really don't know what UKTVFood's problem is - but they seem absolutely determined to wreck the whole channel. Angry Mad

YES! Could we please have a response from UKTVFood about whether this simple programming realignment is possible?

Please? Confused

Well I've not visited the boards for months , so I've been catching up reading all the new posts .
I like MK , I agree it's a little stilted in places but I do like the concept better than that of GFL , it may just be that I far prefer Tana Ramsey to Jenni , in fact I like the atmosphere , less frantic and frenetic , Jenni is such a "motor-mouth ", rather like a slightly less volatile Janet Street Porter !
A few alterations here and there and I believe it would be extremely good , as someone said , it does need a little humour ,but at least I feel that the presenters know what they are talking about , and are willing to have a go .

Bev, Barefoot Contessa is a great alternative to the now-missing GFL. It has a lot of the warmth of GFL but sdaly not the same humour, irreverance and spontaneity a live program exudes.

But her recipes are absoultely spot-on to-die-for. Mmmmmmm sugar and butter, meat and potatoes. How can you go wrong?!

There are many, many other North American shows that I hope UKTVFood can bring over. Big Grin
