It's my birthday this week, a big one, but I'm not saying which Big Grin

Anyways, daughter and I are popping up to the London West End, staying at the St Giles and going to see Cabaret at the Lyric Theatre.

They are not far apart so we will be walking from hotel the theatre and back. Anyone recommend somewhere to each in between?

Happy birthday (whichever one it is!)

You don't say when you want to eat (pre-theatre or afterwards) but since you're on the edge of Soho you've got a huge choice.

At the expensive end - I like Alastair Little (Frith Street) but if you want something as an alternative, Aldo Zilli's restaurants are good and they're also in that area

Hope you have a lovely time whatever you do

Thanks Jan,

we haven't really decided oursleves yet. So more of a drop in place than a booking.

An alternative is the Soho Hotel in Richmond Mews (just off Dean Street) - a really quirky hotel with a good bar and restaurant. Have not eaten there but attended an event last Thursday and was really impressed. That might suit if you just want to drop in. Zilli's got 3 or 4 places and you don't always need to book.

enjoy

Thanks Jan,

I've had a look on their website and a peek at the menu. My daughter is veggie and there doesn't seem to be a wide range. I have been told about a few little bistro type places that might be ok.

TerryDox! Thank you. Hope you are enjoying yourselves and Mrs Dox has a wonderful birthday too.

Its a long time since I worked in London but there use to be the most fabulous cake/tea shop in Old Compton Street at the Theatre end called Patiserie Valerie (pardon the spelling!) Use to be frequented by theatrical types too. Yummy cakes. No good for the meal but you may need afternoon tea!!!! Big Grin

Thank you.

The show was fabulous, hotel not bad, and we didn't eat out in the end, just got a snack to take back to the hotel. I noticed a few places to try next time though.

Sorry for not replying before, I have car problems, work problems and need to finish my coursework for my NVQ within a couple of days.
