Rosti, the voice of reason at last, we have been trying to tell these poor souls that they are the only ones (from the whole nation) who wanted it to continue but they wouldn't listen. Just because a few people want to be groupies to the show or JB doesn't mean that the whole nation wants to watch them. MK has gone up in my estimation because they have dispensed with the wooden Tana Ramsay and (I hope) Diane the JB clone who keeps her eyes glued to the autocue while moving her head around like a demented duck!! They have brought in the young vibrant chefs as well as the established senior chefs and the whole programme has taken on a new and exciting aspect, keep it up UKFood it IS exciting and vibrant and young and I hope we will see it for many years to come - and I am an OAP and I recognise new young talent...... That is a bit weird TVFoody as it is shown as repeats here downunder. It must be something local. Odd they don't give anyone some type of explanation such as rosti provided? Just chalk it up to arrogance of your cable company?

PS The Catholic Church has petitioned the broadcasters here to take Ramsey off the air because of his "foul mouth"!! How absurd is THAT? As if there isn't more important issues in the world.

Hey Cathy the Taff...i'm like you; i've followed this thread since it started. It just amazes me the number of people who are saying the same thing over and over again..I have only seen GFL and JB a few times. I found the woman overbearing and quite self-satisfied. Personally, not the kind of person i'd sit and listen to. I just find it quite amazing the number of people who continue to pine for her. Surely there must be more fulfilling things to do than continue to call for her return, when it simply appears that it will not happen. The 'Jenny Barnett' thread also quickly became a place to attack MK...not what it was originally posted for, surely? I'm not a huge fan of MK...I find I can dip into it for references now and again. It just seems that there are quite a few posters around for whom the whole JB/GFL/MK scenario has become a worrying obsession Eek

I agee entirely. Jeni Barnett was real. What you saw is what you got. That just doesn't happen too much any more on UKTV. And certainlt not on the manufactered MK progamme. Yuk..

You either liked JB or not...a far cry from the manufactured TV that has replaced her. Very sad. Very sad, indeed.

I totally agree about Jenny Barnett's unusual ability to be *real*, and to be herself on screen.

The first few times I saw her on GFL I thought she was really annoying, and I thought: "for heavens sake be quite woman, you're putting the chefs off their stroke when cooking", but then she generally didn't have that effect on the chefs, and after a while I found she "grew on me".

One of her endearing features was her honesty, and if she didn't like something she would often say so, and even when she didn't put her thoughts into words, her face said it all.

Jenny is a larger than life character and I think her personality could easily overwhelm some people, which might account for the "love her / hate her" reactions that have appeared on this website.

Having said that, I've never seen such a heart-felt protest over the loss a TV personality anywhere else on the Internet.

Jenny has the ability to stand in a space that very few TV presenters can find: she was able to make you feel she was alongside the viewers and it was as if she was a friend who was introducing you to the people that appeared on GFL. One thing that always shone through was that she was: "on the viewer's side"

I can fully accept that GFL is finished, and that we may not see Jenny on UKTVFood again, and I haven't written this post with any hope of her returning.

But if Jenny still read these boards, I would like to add my name to the long list of people who miss her and point out that she is certainly not forgotten.

I am hoping that she will soon appear again on our screens, and I feel sure that one of the TV companies will soon enable Jenny to come into our homes again.

As far as I am concerned, Jenny is always welcome.

How about just running repeats of the old GFL every night at midnight? At least we could capture back some of those great moments and recipes.

While it's a good idea, it looks like this ain't gonna 'appen. There must be some reason, it seems like this request is falling on deaf ears.
