Here, here, Barshedale. Gary Rhodes is only trying to find the authentic recipe so that he can satisfy his enormous ego by "improving" on centuries old recipes and traditions.

His shows are rubbish.

But Rena's point is well taken, although Greek cuisine is probably one of the few that has remained relatively unchanged over the centuries.

Remember such ingredients as chillies, potatoes, corn, chocolate, squash, pumpkins, tomatoes, etc, etc were totally unknown to Europe and Asia before 1500AD. So any cuisine that uses these has been altered drastically in very recent times. What did the Thais and Indians eat before chillies came? Or the Italians before tomatoes? It makes one wonder.....
