Excellent - About time Howard's Way re-surfaced on UKTV. Can't wait to relive that 80's era where shoulder pads and fluffed up hair were 'in'.

I am thoroughly enjoying Howard's way gracing our screens again. It would be nice to know which series will be shown when etc.
Tue 6 Dec 2005, 8.47AM
An absolute gem and the theme tune isn't half bad either, that is the theme tune without Marty Webb singing!!!!
Great show and worth a re run again, the 80's soaps are so much better than today. Great nostalgia.
Tue 6 Dec 2005, 4.55PM
so why does it appear to have been taken off? I see All Creaturews Great and Small has taken over the 7pm slot, as well as the 8pm. Fine for me but not for HW fans.
Tue 6 Dec 2005, 10.11PM
Just twice a day now, 12:00 & 18:00 with omnibus on Sunday.

Series 4 starts 30/12/05
Series 5 starts 18/01/06
Series 6 starts 06/02/06
last episode 22/02/06
(I think ;-))

This must be quite new as a Google a few eeks ago produced no HW DVD's other than ebay.
£33.99 is also mentioned on some sites.
I have already started 'taping' to DVD so will continue for the time being.

I am really annoyed Howards Way is no longer shown in the mornings - several colleagues have also expressed their frustration. We used to watch it each morning before work. However as we don't get home until 7pm its almost impossible to watch it now - having waited years to see it again it seems ludicrous that UK TV Drama have taken it off without warning. Although All Creatures Great and Small is a great programme - we don't need it in such quanties in the morning - bring back Howards Way !! - UK TV Drama must have alienated many viewers with the change so please reconsider.

I am not sorry about its removal. With its preoccupation with alcohol, greed and promiscuity, it is unsuitable for early mornings. However, some parents let their children/kids, watch anything. There is a surprising lack of unwanted pregnancies, or cirrhosis. Its move to 12 p.m. is just change for the sake of it. Leo is one of the few good influences. I hope he survives. Its overall message, is that 'A Woman's Place Is At Home.' Where were the characters of Jack & Kate dragged from. One is a blustering, boozy, sad woman chaser. The other a poor copy of Audrey Forbes Hamilton.
The poor moral values of this programme and U.S. Soaps, of the past, are being reprised in real life now, here and abroad.

Howards Way is excellent and I have been watching it Monday through to Friday - but why has the Sunday omnibus been removed? I missed three episodes last week and anticipated watching it today - but no - Howards Way omnibus has gone - to be replaced with two episodes from series one - this when Mon-Fri its midway through series 4!
Please please please don't do episode mixing with this quality drama.

Like many fans, I am fuming.
The disasterous scheduling of Howards Way continues unabated.
Today, quite out of the blue, we have two episodes - starting at 5.00pm; meaning many would miss the first episode.
Reading the post above from UKTV, it gives no indication of the changing times. Further, the chaos seems to be getting worse as the "when is it on " page on this site indicates an almost daily change of times.
If UKTV drama are aiming to be a serious broadcaster they must not change schedules without due regard to viewers - what will happen is the ratings will slide. A great shame for this much loved serial will . Please agree a schedule and stick to it - and it is not impressive to have recommenced series 1 on a Sunday when monday to friday is on series 4.

hi, ive missed most of the recent replays of howards way and i used to love watching it with my mother in the 80's while still living at home.can anyone tell me when it will be rerun from the begining again hopefully in the near future?
Wed 11 Jan 2006, 4.38PM
Well, as whittimere says, there we all were, loving the reruns of Howard's Way when UKTV go and mess it up by showing two episodes....still, fear not, now it's being moved from it's 18:00 slot to earlier.
Cheers, UK TV Drama, I'll remember not to bother in future until you show some respect for your audience by maintaining consistent scheduling.
Whilst I'm here, do you think you could find time to squeeze a bit more DRAMA onto the channel, instead of messing us about? Today we have Hi-de-Hi, Last of the Summer Wine (ffs!!), You Rang My Lord, Terry & June, etc etc taking up most of the day's schedule. Last time I looked these were COMEDY, not Drama. Just change your name to UKTV Gold 3 and have done with it if you want, but stop messing us about.

I am loving seeing this again as I watched it first time round. Had a major crush on Edward Highmore who was Leo when it was first shown and still find myself drawn to him now

Howards Way is the best series ever, loved it the first time around and never miss it at tea time. Can't believe UK Drama have ealtered the viewing time to 4pm. Please, please please make it later, how can anybody watch it who is at work. This is just the worst decision ever. What about a repeat later in the evening.
What ever happened to Sarah-Jane Varley

Well, congratulations UKTV Drama, you have made it virtually impossible for anyone who works 9-5 to see Howards Way! The worst of it is that the timings have changed mid-way through series 4 just as we have become hooked again! Don't you care?
Tue 17 Jan 2006, 3.38PM
Indeed, congratulations do seem in order for the magnificent manner in which this programme has been shunted about the schedules over recent weeks. The anticipation and excitement one experiences when one turns over to UK Drama each day to discover whether or not Howards' Way is to be on or off is sometimes too much to bear. We must thank the schedulers for providing this little frisson of anticipation each day for without it what would our dull lives be.
Whilst it is obvious that UKTV feels the programmes it is allowed to show (and let's not forget most of them are OWNED by the British public) are merely fodder to be broadcasted around the advert breaks (see so-called comedy programmes on a Drama channel), it might like to consider that some people actually would rather see the programmes (without having to resort to praying to a higher being that they might be on when expected).
Very poor show.

Its excellent to see Howards way on again. As already stated very frustrating that you keep changing the times of when its on. Does anyone have all 6 series on DVD I missed the first few episodes.
I can't believe the BBC won't put it on DVD, they would make a fortune.
Wed 18 Jan 2006, 12.50PM
I admit I'm not a huge fan of Howard's Way, but it does serve as an excellent document of the excess and melodrama of the 1980's!
I remember so well when the world looked like that!

What about people who work later? Or shifts? lol

Apparently it IS coming out on DVD fairly soon, at about £50 a series
My main concern throughout Series 4 was how Jan had managed to get the flowers in her 'office' to live for at least three months, but we start Series 5 today (don't we, UKTV Drama????) so now we get Kate O'Mara.
If you have youngsters around who don't believe what you say about 80s clothes one episode of HW should convince them

I to am unhappy about Howards Way, You could at least have kept it at the same time or later Not Earlier I don't get home till 5.30 so now miss it. Will you move it or re run the Drama again so at least we can watch what, was a really good Drama. You manage to put on some repeats so often but never the good ones

We all know that Jan would never have had fresh flowers in her office in the late 80's. It was all dried flowers and pot pourri. Besides, the combined powers of her big hair and wide shoulder pads continually knocking over vases of flowers would push the cost of flowers beyond even Jan's expansive spending power (despite the fact nobody is ever in her "boutique" except for when she's flogging the tat off cheap).
It seems obvious the flowers must be dried or sprayed with hairspray (there was enough about) to keep them looking fresh.

I guess I will add to the list of people who are really disappointed at the time change for Howards Way. I was really enjoying watching it with my friends. We are all in our mid 30's and remember watching it as kids. Please put it back to 7pm so I have some chance of actually seeing the rest of it.

I am enjoying this rerun - having seen all the filming of all the Relton Scenes when they were filmed at Lymington (Berthon) Marina in the Summers of 88 and 89 - I have dug out all my old photographs of the filming I saw - seems like yesterday. What I didn't realise until today was that, although everyone seems to think that Edward Highmore (Leo Howard) just disappeared after 'Howards' Way' finished, he didn't really - he's the Father of Freddie Highmore - aka 'Charlie' in the Johnny Depp 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory'..!! - also in 'Finding Neverland' and 'Five Children and It' - he's a major movie star, so I guess 'Leo' is pretty busy managing his son!! cool!
