Secret Army

the name 'Lifeline,' was somewhat ironic, considering their behaviour, towards anyone who got in their way, friend or foe, including communists. Albert's nickname, could have been 'The Brussels Snake.' or 'The Brussels Judas.' Confused

FURTHER APPEAL:**HOPES SOMEONE FROM UKTV WILL READ AND RESPOND**

That's TWO of us, then, VickyL!!!

It's Saturday tomorrow and I see no sign of a response from UKTV yet...

It seems that you can only get a response from the powers that be if you whinge incessantly about 80's sunday night garbage like Howard's Way (I'm not a fan, actually, don't know if you'd guessed... lol!!)-

As an aside, I note that I have searched the UKTV pages and cannot find programme listings for the week ahead... Have I missed it by mistake is this another omission??? I would happily look up the answers to my questions here if I only knew where to look!

APPEAL TO UKTV DRAMA BODS:
------------------------------------

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE could someone explain how the current run of Secret Army is being screened?

Though I'm pleased to have another chance to see it, I was dismayed to find that I had once again stumbled across the tail end of series three this week.

Oh well, I thought, perhaps I'll catch the series's from the very first episode the NEXT time UKTV drama show them...

But then, this morning (saturday), having watched various of the final series episodes this week, I was (pleasantly) surprised to find an episode from an earlier series (featuring Jan Francis, so it must be older!!).

I first started watching when Curtis had just joined them (series 1 or 2?) then missed a number of episodes and finally caught up again in series 3.

My question is:

Are episodes from earlier series being shown weekly in the Saturday timeslot, AS WELL as series 3 on weekdays?

If so, if I were to watch the Saturday timeslot in future, would I be able to catch the episodes I've previously missed?

OR

Are UKTV Drama planning to screen the whole lot from series 1, episode 1 at any time in future?

I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANSWERS IF ANYBODY (from UKTV or otherwise!) CAN LET ME KNOW!!!!Angry

Thanks for reading!!!!

Hi, I really loved Secret Army when I saw the rerun. I remember it vaguely from my childhood but was too young at the time to understand the sophistication of it.

I particularly liked the way that the Germans were rounded characters rather than simple stereotypes. To the point where I was saddened by the injustice of Rheinhardt's execution whilst Kessler escaped.

The question I'd like to ask the UKTV people is if they are able to show the never aired episode "Daddy, what did you do in the war" and the series "Kessler"? Having invested so much time in the lives of these characters it would be interesting to see what became of them.

Hello all

As a mere youngster I have never seen Secret Army before.

I have enjoyed watching the series a great deal- I think this is a fine example of good quality BBC drama, instead of the sensationalist, ratings-driven squitter that graces our screens daily on terrestrial TV presently; (although I confess that it is quite amusing for me to see the obvious parodies, having grown up watching "'Allo, 'Allo!'")

I am sorry to disagree with Swanella but I believe that every single actor in the series delivered a first-rate performance. I was personally impressed particularly by Bernard Hepton and Michael Culver.
I think it is a testament to Clifford Rose's talent that the character he plays should be so disliked!

(And I am disappointed that Juliet Hammond-Hill does not have her own gallery on the net! lol Cheeky)

I am only sorry that I missed the beginning of the run.

Sincerest thanks to UKTV Drama for showing the 3 series' back to back... Please PLEASE let us know when you plan to screen it again, as I would love to see it in its entirety.

WHY can't the BBC produce programmes like this today?

Secret Army was way ahead of its time. It created some superb stories and showed how sneaky the Germans were and just as sneaky the resistance workers HAD to be! Great performances from Hepton, Juliet and Pember.
Clifford Rose was a superb actor but his Kessler series let him down badly. I recall it all as great Saturday evening entertainment.
