If you do...then post it here, or if you prefer, you can email your question direct to info@uktvfood.co.uk - please put 'Nigel Slater' in the subject line of your email.

He'll be answering a number of your questions, in a special interview for this site, to mark the launch of his new book 'The Kitchen Diaries' on 3 October 2005.

We'll be running a competition to win copies of the book, as well as featuring some of his renowned recipes on this site.

Look forward to reading your questions!

I loved Nigels recent diaries noting the seasonal food that he used day by day and can't wait to try the recipe for plum cake. As an older woman (53) I, like many of you was raised on seasonal foods, it was all we had, and endeavour to source locally produced fresh food. I would like to ask Nigel if he plans his menu before he shops or waits until he sees what produce is on offer? By the by, I agree 'Toast' was brilliant, but I still think it was Instant Whip and not Angel Delight that was available then...mmm butterscotch, would I eat it now? Keep us inflamed with your passion for food.

I heard your interview on Desert Island Discs -- which pieces of music nearly made it on your list, other than the eight plus one to take?

And thanks for some memorable recipes.

Hi, I don't have a question for Nigel but I would like him to know that I think he is absolutely fantastic. His passion for food keeps me glued to the tv and inspires me to cook and and show a similar passion. His book 'Toast' was so great, so personal. I couldn't put it down.

Nigel Slater... thank you!

Hi Nigel

I love the extracts from your new book and found myself nodding vigorously where you write about the pleasures of eating in tune not only with the seasons, but also the weather! Could not agree more.

I'm an aspiring cookery writer and I'm lucky enough to have a job that involves, amongst many other things, writing about food. Although what I really love is cooking and creating new recipes! I'd really appreciate any advice you can offer about the path to success and what, in your mind, makes a cookery writer stand out from the crowd.

Hello Mr Slater.

I read that you list eating out as one of life's great pleasures - do you find that the staff/owners tend to recognise you when you're in their restaurant? If so, does this make it more difficult to enjoy eating out? I imagine it might make the atmosphere less relaxed if you've been spotted...?

Hi Nigel

If you could change one part of your body, what would it be? Sometimes I think I'd like an extra hand so that I could make your lovely recipes even quicker! They do teke quite long some of them.

Actually I do have some questions for Nigel...

What does he think of tipping in restaurants? To tip or not to tip?

Should smoking be banned in restaurants and bars?

24 hour opening for bars, yes or no?

We've all answered these questions just wondering what Nigel thinks.

Cheers
Carol

Any tips for the best gravy to go with Sunday roast beef?

Dear Nigel

My Mother was a great cook and my cooking is definitely influenced by her food. Do you think we're all influenced by what we ate as children? Does this mean people who feed their kids ready-meals are raising a ready-meal dependant generation?

Thanks
Maureen, Dublin

Dear Nigel,

Please Help! This is a problem I've been unable to resolve for years!
You have that lovely recipe for lemon suprise pudding but I'm unsure what kind of dish it's actually cooked in??? Should it be the same bowl that you mix all the ingredients in?.....it doesn't seem to stipulate. Am I being thick?
Many thanks

Where can I find quail eggs in the St Helens/Wigan Lancs area? Our local Sainsbury and Tesco stores stocked them over the Christmas period but I can't find them now?
Help!

Hi Nigel! Thanks for you superb books and the TV series Real Food. I watch the series whenever it is on UK TV Food!!

Toast made me both laugh and cry - I remembered so much from my own upbringing. Your food is outstanding and I love your articles in OFM!

My question is will you please, please, please do another TV series? Is there a plan for one?

Thank you for your hard work and for inspiring me!!

Nigel,

I would just like to say that I have just read 'TOAST' and found it extremely moving. I laughed and I cried in equal amounts.

I loved the TV series and just wanted to know why there isn't more of Nigel Slater on TV.

My question for you, Nigel is, 'if you were stranded on a desert island what were the 3 foods (and only 3) you would choose to take with you'?

For me it would have to be bread, butter and cheese...

Love & thanks for your inspiration Nigel,

Nicci xxx

Dear Nigel

Love your passion for food. Do your friends get nervous about cooking for you? DO you end up being in the kitchen wherever you go.

I love cooking, but I would be very nervous about cooking for someone who had such passion!!

SPICY CHICKEN BAGUETTE???: I am desperately seeking a recipe I once saw Nigel Slater make but I can't seem to find it on the website (mainly as I can't remember the exact name). He made spicy indian chicken wings in a pan and served it in a warm crusty baguette with lashing of mayo - I didn't have time to write down the ingredients and the method - does anyone know which one it was? it looked great! thanks, Katie xx.
