Curses, double post! Sorry for the double post, have to reply again!

hannahjay: Ryan and Colin are at their best in the US version, so that makes it more enjoyable to watch. They're better than they are in the UK version, but then again, they've had years to build up their psychic link! I think I've seen the Asteroid Boogaloo (is this in the same game as Obi Wan Kenobi in the Flowing Brown Robey?) Richard Vranch has a House in Little Britain too, and so does Sandi Toksvig. I think that the creators admitted that they enjoyed Whose Line, can't remember where I read that. Eddie Izzard was good, if only in one episode! One thing I've noticed (through Wikipedia) is that a lot of the comedians on Whose Line UK are good at or fluent in French (Tony, Eddie, and some more!) But then, you have to be intelligent to come up with comedy on the spot like they do!
Finally, in Authors, John raises the tone, sometime after Tony lowers it (not that I mind, I love it when Tony looks all serious :P), and I've often been tempted to actaully read that author just to see how accurate his pastiches are! Btw, I picked up that word from the back of the Whose Line S1+2 DVD :D And also, the second compilation in Series 1 is compelling viewing, I laughed and laughed. I won't say anything about it, because I don't want to spoil it for those sans DVD, but like I said, you'll recognise Tony's Russian in Story (by Rory McGrath in an inspiring performance), if you look up the Cambridge Footlights Revue- chess sketch on youtube :D

The radio version was on BBC Radio 7 not so long ago, I remember just coming across it by chance! I hope they repeat it again, I enjoyed it.

SabukuSands I do exactly the same! I started watching Kingdom coz I heard Tony Slattery was in it, absolutely love that show now!

I would love to have a Whose Line party, or have a little improv group or something like that.. it looks like so much fun. I make up hoedowns in the shower and I'm proud Big Grin

Ah, that's really cool! The most I've heard on the radio is a 20th anniversary interview with Clive, Josie and..John? Well, it was poor because they failed to mention Tony.

And I now watch Kingdom because I love seeing current Tony, as well as 1990s Tony- gotta have a bit of balance! And Stephen Fry is another reason to watch. I was so annoyed when he had about five seconds' screentime in the last episode. Don't worry though, Series 3 is on its way! Airdate: 2009 sometime.

I would also love a Whose Line party/improv group! My poetic talent extends to a hoedown at most. Actually, I belong to a Tony Slattery fan forum, and we have a Hoedown thread- the topic changes daily (or every two days if the person in charge of topics is a bit slow), and we get to make up hoedowns! I also make up hoedowns in my head whenever I don't pay attention in lessons :D Which is frequently often. I was seeing if I could rhyme 'halitosis' again in Biology- Josie Lawrence's special talent is rhyming words with it, and I'm sure there are more words than the one or two she uses! So far, I have supposes, imposes, mitosis (biology!), noses, roses. Josie's used roses, I know that, but I can't recall the other one.

Would it be terribly smug of me to call myself "The John Sessions of this thread"? Because I ramble so much :P

Wow this thread is moving fast...SabukuSands I say you're officially "The John Sessions of this thread" Tongue

I knew about the BBC/Channel 4 thing from the documentary...but thanks for informing me ^^ .

It's quite funny that BBC America has the rights to show WL and also BBC 2 has Mock the Week (it's made by the same people...) I don't think the BBC wanted to miss another chance Wink

I've not heard about the interview...what did they say on it?

Sorry if I've missed anything from the previous posts out...it's getting a bit hard to keep up

Yes! I have a title! Thanks! :D I'm sorry for my post after post after post, but I'm getting excited because there are so many fans here whom I can talk to about Whose Line Wink I'll tone it down!

Apparently, from my source in America who watches WLUK, they've stopped showing it! I saw the last part of an episode of Mock the Week (thanks Dave!) which resembled World's Worst. I think it's the spiritual sequel of WL. As soon as I get the chance, I plan to watch an entire episode. See, all the other good stuff on Dave starts late, after I have to go to bed!

As for the interview, they talked about the success of Whose Line, the DVD release, the 20th anniversary. Clive mentioned the three buttons on his desk, they briefly mentioned Greg in it, completely passed over Tony. Josie said she wouldn't want to do another series, and that teenage hoodies recognise her in the street... Because of Dave showing it, and all the teenagers being able to see it! :D I'm just another one of them!

Big Grin Good old Dave! Okay, I'll shush now, I've done more than enough posting!

It is said that Mock the Week is, Have I Got News For You and Whose Line mixed together...

Really it's a news panel show with games that resemble WL's games(Oh and it's created by Dan Patterson (sp?) ^^; ); it's quite good (I've watch all the episodes so far, it's sounds kinda sad that I can watch so much tele, but heck I'm a teenager ^^; ); there's plenty clips on youtube you can watch too.

Cool I wish I heard the interview, Josie being recognise by hoodies sounds kinda funny...

Mock The Week's apparently the 'successor' to Whose Line.. many people who have been on WLiiA have been on Mock The Week, Rory Bremner was a captain, Sandi, Greg and Clive (hilarious moment about a wounded stag in his episode) were all on the panel as guests I think. The part at the end of the show - 'Scenes We'd Like To See' - is just like Scenes from a hat, just without the hat!

Another word to rhyme with halitosis: overdoses.

I could waffle on about this show forever! Big Grin

Right, I think it's okay to reply now!

LilHanHan: I heard it online, one of those catch up things. It was on a random show, can't remember what, and the interview was halfway through the show. I saw Dan Patterson's name on the credits of Mock the Week :D Teenagers and TV is a good mix! Youtube is clip heaven too, you can find so much Whose Line and you can find many clips of WL stars in other TV stuffs.

hannahjay: I thought so. I'm going to try and find the WL stars in Mock the Week clips on youtube! Thanks for the rhyme to halitosis! I might just make a rhyming dictionary for it. Big Grin I could waffle on about Whose Line (you are talking about that show, not Mock the Week, right?) forever, and you've already had to put up with some of it :P

hannahjay-What do you mean you don't really understand when John Sessions takes part in authors because of the styles he picks! Even though i have never heard of most of the authors he chooses, i still find him very amusing to watch!! Smile
Some of you say he is smug! I think smug is the wrong word to use, maybe marvellous! Wink
SabakuSands- You said Griff Rhys Jones wasn't that notable, only for eating socks, i have to disagree with you! Cheeky I think that both of his performances were great to watch, he had me laughing the whole way through! Big Grin I think perhaps if he had appeared in more episodes more people would have remembered him. However, i do enjoy watching "Alas Smith And Jones" (A comedy for those who do not know), which has Griff in! That is probably why i enjoyed his performances!
The last thing i have to say is that ok, yes i do agree that having 6 episodes each day wouldn't be very practical because of what you said!! Cheeky I said that only becuase when you're at home all day and have nothing to do, you want more episodes to be shown. I am still on my easter holidays and so have another week off!! Big Grin

I'm still off on school holidays too. Sometimes when I'm bored I just watch Whose Line again from like 3 hours earlier! Could never get tired of it.

Here's a question for you: Apart from the ones that have been on it already, which other people would you put on Whose Line if a new series was to be made? 2 people I would pick would be Andy Parsons and Rich Hall, they are seriously funny! Big Grin

I think if there was a new Whose Line i would choose Al Murray and Billy Connolly! When watching them perform i can't help but laugh!! Smile By name i wasn't too sure on Rich Hall, but i just typed his name on the internet and i remember he is on QI, along with John Sessions and sometimes Josie Lawrence! Smile

SabukuSands-Thanks for informing me about it, I've probably missed it but ah well ^^;

hannahjay and Whose Line Fan!!- You're both still on your easter holidays?!? *waves fist in the air* hehe you're lucky... Tongue

If you really need to watch more WL like I said before you can download 4oD, (I've kinda said that a bit too much now Embarrassed )...

If there was a new series...I don't know who to choose,but I probably won't watch it(I know there's not going to be one anyway); some of my childhood programmes have been ruined or are going to be ruined (dale's supermarket sweep, bull's eye and gladiators for example...)so I don't really want to think about it... ^^;

Rambling time again, I'm going to reply to each post in order, so you might get a double reply!

WhoseLineFan : Have you noticed that when John does Authors, he always looks slightly demented, and his voice changes into a strange accent? That's on of the other notable things about his Author performances! Also, I think I'll have to watch the Griff Rhys Jones episodes again! I have a habit of not noticing good comedians straight away (Tony, Paul, etc.), and it takes someone else's insight to show me their good points! And I fibbed- I don't just remember his sock eating, I also remember John pretending to be him before he was actually on the show, and him and John reading the credits as himself :P Finally, I can understand your point about seeing more than just two episodes three times a day if on holiday. I remember my half term, in which I saw lots of episodes, but I did get slightly annoyed when one was repeated. However, it takes at least two showings of an episode for you to remember what happens in it! My suggestion is either using 4oD (if you have a certain type of cable/wire, you could even hook it up to the TV and watch it in all its' glory), or, if you haven't already buying the Series 1+2 DVD so you can watch as much as you want at your leisure. That's the only way I can think of getting to see lots of Whose Line while you can!

hannahjay: The only way I get tired of Whose Line is if I put my DVD and play episode after episode after episode. I remember doing that with the first 6 or 7 episodes of Series 1, and losing all sense of what was going on. Is it just me, or does it become tedious if you watch more than two episodes at once? Confused As for other people on a new series of Whose Line, that's a difficult question, as I enjoyed the performance of the originals so much that I couldn't think of anyone else to add! Actually, I've got some suggestions- how about Comedy Store Players who weren't originally on it? And Richard Vranch. Richard Vranch is a comedian who is a Comedy Store Player, and it said on his official myspace that he was bored to tears when he did the music originally. He should do comedy, not just music, and I know quite a few people who want to know what his voice sounds like! Other than that, can't think of anyone.

LilHanHan: No problem! I would have missed it if another fan had mentioned it- said fan also mentioned that Greg Proops was on the radio, so I promptly listened to "BuyMeUp TV", a comedy set around characters who work on a teleshopping channel. He was funny in it. That fan, as you can guess, is way ahead of me when it comes to appearances from WLers in other mediums! I've just had my first two days of school back, exhausted already! And there were so many things that reminded me of Whose Line. Especially when we talked about Roman pantomimes, comedies and farces in Latin. Film and Theatre Styles have covered the first and last, and Whose Line is generally the second :P Yes, 4oD has been shamelessly plugged here (sorry, Dave?), but like everyone's said, it's the number one source for all the series!

I don't think I'd like a new series of Whose Line- for one thing, the topical references (i.e. John Major is rubbish!) amuse me, and it just wouldn't be the same without someone making fun of a famous person at that time. Also, it's a bit of nostalgia from the late 80s and 90s, and every TV programme is bound to jump the shark sometimes :P Finally, the stars of it have moved on in their career, and some fans might be surprised by their new appearance- it's been 20 years, they have most likely aged (unless they use cosmetic surgery). They don't look any worse for wear, merely older, but some people might not like it. Finally, like LilHanHan summed it up perfectly, reviving something can go either way, it can either be good or atrocious. I don't know about anyone else, but I couldn't bear the original WL which I love to be brought back and mutilated. That's also why I sometimes have difficulty watching the US version, although it is lovely to see more up-to-date versions of Ryan, Colin, Greg and Chip!

I raised a point before to hannahjay- if I watch more than two episodes at a time of Whose Line, I start to lose interest. Am I the only one who has this problem, or is it a global Whoser issue? When I was on Easter, I went away, took my laptop and watched my DVD on it. I watched two episodes a time, and then did something else. They held my interest, and I fully enjoyed them. Basically, does everyone else get bored if they watch more then two episodes at once?

P.S. I apologise from the bottom of my heart to all you having to read all this, and I will promptly buzz myself out. Several times.

*buzz* *buzz* *buzz*

It's okay you kinda needed to reply to everyone... Smile

Don't worry I get kinda bored too if I watch it so many times...that's why I don't watch it all the time; also I'm glad someone agrees with me on the nostalgia thing, because they try to improve old shows, which isn't always the best idea...^^;

Finally, sorry Dave for mentioning 4oD all the time, but it's kinda hard not to mention it when you're talking about a show which was on that channel! Embarrassed

(Sorry if some of this post doesn't make much sense, I'm eating my dinner at the same time as typing! ).

A question for everyone:
If Whose line is so successful, then why haven't channel 4 or whoever released the third/fourth series? I am having to watch the first and second constantly over and over!!
SabakuSands: I have to unfortunately disagree with you! I find that i can easily watch more than three episodes in one go because i love the show that much!! Cheeky
Also everyone go on youtube type in "whose line is it anyway?" and click on the first one-Party Quirks, it is the US show-tell me what you all think!!

Here I go again!

LilHanHan: That's a relief, I was panicking! And I do agree! I also apologise Dave Frown

Whose Line Fan: Because they only released S1+2 on the 25th March 2008, after at least one pushing back of the release date, and the US getting it before us. I'd expect a delay of several months between each DVD, and just because it's successful, doesn't mean that the producers have any sense! Of course, Jimmy Mulville, who has been on Whose Line and happens to be a co-founder of Hat Trick Productions, should release all the other DVDs!
I think I could probably watch three episodes or maybe four, but I put the first seven episodes on one after the other- firstly, some of them weren't that enjoyable, and secondly, there weren't many of the regular stars that we've come to know and love, so that may be why I got slightly bored!

Please don't tell me- your clip is Kathy Greenwood, stupidest woman in the world. "His head is velcro?" And that is reason #1 why I don't want to watch the US one as much as I actually do! I shake my head at her stupidity. Velcro? Velcro?! Angry I feel sorry for Ryan.

I think they should release a BIG boxset of all the series, like the ones you see for shows like Friends and stuff. I would happily part with £100 for that!

Oh and Kathy Greenwood should be ignored as much as possible. My favourite US episode, the Evil Tickler, has her in it. Ryan, Colin and Wayne are so funny in that episode you can't help but not take notice of her. Big Grin

I completely agree! I'd save up for it! I'd love to see the complete series 1-10 boxset, with lots of promotional pictures on cards, and a big Whose Line poster of most of the cast, and lots of extras, like interviews with lots of cast members, and they could even do a 20th anniversary episode, and perhaps a one-off with lots of people? You know, those sort of little extras that really make boxsets grand!

And I've heard that there's an episode in which Kathy Greenword does nothing, because all the parts with her in didn't make the final cut for the episode! I might have to look up that episode you've mentioned Big Grin

Here's a random observation, since I'm seeing a repeat of a WLUS Christmas special with a reindeer in: Aren't Colin and Ryan amazing at Helping Hands? Colin's so skilled with the hands, and Ryan's so good at reacting to what Colin does that sometimes you almost forget that Ryan isn't using his own hands! Especially in this episode, since their shirts are the same colour! Big Grin

Indeed, in the Tickler episode, they play Helping Hands and Colin spills hot coffee on his hand. Drew actually believes that Ryan is in pain, that's how skilled they are!

You know they showed the UK compilations last night.. well haven't they missed out 1 or 2 episodes? If they started showing series 1 on Monday.. and it went through to Friday, that's 10 episodes, plus the compilations yesterday, that's 12. I thought there were more than that?

i saw colin's 1st episode on youtube, series 3, and it was weird seeing him without ryan...but twas funny all the same. I've even tried to improvise seens with mates, and i just think, "how the heck do they do it?" hoedown is a belter!

and can i just say...TONY SLATTERY FOR PM!!! the world would be alot funnier if he was in charge! when he did "helping Hands" and he was the hands for josie, he was a dirty old fool...hilarious!!!

hannahjay: As soon as I read your post for the second time, I worked it out: Dave didn't show episode 8, the pilot episode, in which they all look rather dreary in a grey and blue studio. I'm really glad that they went for the red and black in the end! Colin and Ryan are psychic! :D Also, I believe that Dave are showing series 1-8 again, but please correct me if I'm wrong. If you haven't seen it already, you will enjoy series 2!

eejit1990: I wish my friends were interested in Whose Line! Then maybe we coudl try improvising scenes :( Hoedowns are superb! My next mission is to try and sing and play at the same time. If I try both, I mess up the playing... I completely agree with you, and some hoedowns of mine have included voting him as president and ruler of the universe :D I watched his dirty Helping Hands, and it was hilarious! Though I did feel sorry for him when he got his finger bitten- it would have been interesting to see his face and how much pain he was in, because it looked like Josie bit hard! However, I object to the words "old fool"! Could we call him a dirty young man? Pleeease?
