Voluptuous Vicars, beered-up blokes and Bolly dollies. The mighty 90s had it all. But could this decade really lay claim to the finest period in comedy?

Spaced was the funniest "sit-coms" of the 90,s without a doubt,just to remind myself had a look on youtube to see the gun battle (still psml) awsome prog needs more recognition,if you havn't seen spaced you are missing out .
Oh and by the way chewin' the fat was pretty good too. YA BAW HEED

I agree red dwarf quailifies for 80's 90's and 00's and it gets in none there is no justice if Phil Jupitus DID pick all these clips then he no comedic taste whatsoever.
I mean the cow scene in father ted is good but i could think of loads more better

Its a load of rubbish. Its a cheap way to make an hour and a half viewing out of repeats to get responses from the viewers so they can decide what shows to run. Its like a national focus group and they are making money out of the phone votes. (Are they doing a phone in vote? not sure... if not I am surprised that they missed out making a few sheckles on that one.) Its like all those other shows like the top 100 films/comics whatever that run on channel 4.

I wonder if it's run like commercial radio. If you listen to stuff like Magic FM its the same playlist all the time. The major record compaines bung the stations for playing the best sellers.

Rerunning all the old stuff makes it harder for new shows to be aired. If you owned say Elvis Presely's back catalogue and had the choice to re release it in a new format or promote a new band what would you do? Most would go with Elvis. The upshot is new talent is surpressed and we end up in a rut because nothing new is being aired and get upset with watchin the same old stuff .

AND WHAT ABOUT RED DWARF PHIL?

The funniest moment in the nineties has to Del Boy and Rodney's Batman and Robin moment. No dodgy language, nobody is insulted. Its all about situation, two situations in fact, and some great visual images. Its wonderful benchmark comedy.

Believe it or not, the only other thing I remember from the nineties as being great comedy was in the Thin Blue Line, where they re-worked the "My Dogs got no nose" joke. I still can't believe they had the nerve to do that, but it worked and it got a big laugh, perhaps not for the joke, but for the nerve of doing it and the straight face with which it is was done.

By the way. Red Dwarf isn't really funny. Chuckleworthy in places I grant you, but its not in the same league as Batman & Robin.
