If 4x4 heritage counted in this battle, Land Rover and Jeep would be scrapping over who reached their 50th anniversary first, Mitsubishi would smugly point to their similarly old Jeep knock-off and Nissan wouldn't be shamed. The French, BMW and Audi would blush like the virgins they are, but Honda does have a heritage of sorts. They're on their third CR-V now, and back in 1993 actually sold a Honda-badged Land Rover Discovery in Japan called Crossroad. It bombed.

I'm a BIG fan of off-roading, on 2 wheels, but if I had to pick a vehicle with 4 it would be, without doub, the Jeep Wrangler every time. Forget heritage I say stick with what you trust, and the wrangler also looks good.

I would rather kill myself than vote for any of these monstrosities. I have yet to meet anyone in the UK who "needs" a 4x4 except a farmer. Hence all 'chelsea tractor' city owners of BMW, Honda, Audi, etc drivers should hang your heads in shame. Why don't you get a car which fits in one parking space rather than two and learn to drive!

im a big fan of 4x4 vehicles and i think that the Audi Q7 is the best in style looks and performance. It is beautiful to look at and truly takes my breath away thats why the Audi Q7 is the best 4x4 vehicle of 2007

wheres all the real 4x4's!?!

and what the heck is a X5 doing on here, the bmw 5 series is cheaper and better off road!!
the X5 shouldnt even be considerd, its a big heavy tank, what a waste of money!!

and where are all the proper 4x4's! i mean the range rovers, even the toyota land cruise which im not fond of but it has a heck of a better off roading capability than what most of these do!!
and vote the hummer back in!

What about the 4x4's that real people can afford and will vote for ? Like the Hyundai Santa Fe or, my favourite, the Tucson ? What about the Kia Sportage or the Suzuki Vitara or SX4 ? The "contenders" may have the badge and the pose value, but they're Chelsea tractors that no honest person will vote for ! I won't be voting in this category until some REAL cars are offered !

The CR-V...Fantastic! I have owned it for nearly a year now, and it has done everything it said it would, and much, much more, there was not a more practical, comfortable and value for money 4x4 on the market, the new one is so much more modern and stylish now and gets interest where ever i go! a 12/10 for me! Well Done Honda...

Thank you ScoobyDriver, I'LL only have a 4x4 when, some day, I have a chicken farm where I save them from slaughter houses, but still recken my loveable Espace will do better, I'm sick of seeing jerks in Black Range Rovers with personallized licence plates, just frolliking around as if to say "I'll kill our children and anything else in anyway I can" (or in my case chickens.) P.S If it's of any intrest, I'l have a Rooster called Rhoady. Some day, not just to be a dream any more.

I know someone who is a member of a landie club and thats fair enough or anyone who uses them for practical use ie farmers or people in rural areas.
However in the city they are a no no the amount of times one of these 4x4 has blocked a narrow road is well many.
Smaller ones like the kia sportage or suzuki viatra arent so bad but huge range rovers and audi Q7s are just a pain.
Why if these ppl have loads of kids dont they just buy a people carrier instead.

I drive a defender (not the 2007 model) - i do live in the country. It gets me to work and back no matter how deep the floods, the mud or the snow (when we get it). Its a great vehicle but definitly not practical in the town/city. i went to london last week and saw one whihc was clean! i can barly go 1/2 mile without getting mine dirty! i just cant believe people buy these vehicles to drive as every day cars in the urban environment.
But i must say it is an amazing vehicle!!
