There are footballer’s cars, cars for crazy people, and cars that are great for retirement. But if you’re a CEO, and not a pompous idiot, you'll buy a proper pedigree luxury car which isn’t to overstated, which is why the Jaguar XJ should be up there.

The newly revamped XJ was on the list, but didn't survive the journo panel. Too long in the tooth now, was the verdict. Vote it back in from the Wildcar selection

how can you not want a maserati. Tell someone you've got a merc or jag and they won't care, tell them you've got a maserati and you've got a friend for life

Allow me to answer, Natmanu. The RR Phantom has been around too long for this contest - 12 months old or less, remember. Same goes for the 300C. Fans of the Phantom should put a big fat tick next to the Drophead - it's mostly a Phantom after all.

I'd Have The GTC If It Was a Hardtop

Hey Joe, you can have a hardtop GTC. It's called the Continental GT. But if you want your hardtop to retract like it does in the Merc SL, you'll have to make like a tradtional Bentley owner and get a coachbuilder to do the job for you. Or just buy a Merc SL

This car is the best, it's the latest on tec and luxury! It is so beatiful it took me ten minutes to peel my eyes away from the computer! It get to 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, now everyone has to agree that is fat for a heavy luxury car, I voted for it and I know that I voted for thee best!!!

why is the jag xj up there, it is one of the most comfortable saloons ever, and has no trouble producing power, a custom gearbox, the engine can be supercharged and it can go 0-60 in 6-7 seconds!

rolls royce drophead is a gorgeous car. and you won't look like a footballer if you have one. would be nice to have seen some cars like the maybach's or possibly a BMW.

The luxury category contains cars to be driven in rather than to drive. The Bentley embodies luxury, the Rolls is good but not practical (anyone who sits in the back of a large converible doesn't look good).

My dad was a manager at a Mercedes garage for a while and brought both of the above Mercs for a drive. I have to say the CLS was pretty boring and uncomfortable even with AMG's engine. The S-class is just for old golfers.

Why is'nt the Rolls Royce phantom there? I don't care how old it is, it's sibling the Drop head is stupid! There still being sold are'nt they?! If the're not I'll cry. But the Espace is still EVERYTHING, how can you party in a stupid DROP HEAD?!

You're right, a RR Drophead owner would host a different kind of Glastonbury party than a guy throwing open the doors of an Espace, but I'd wager there'd be more champagne and supermodels. Just don't scratch the teak decking.
