This historical site is pretty much exactly as it was during the Second World War. It is sufficiently modern for us to identify with the sitution that those who worked and lived here found themselves in. It is thus easy to transport yourself back 65 years, remind yourself of our recent history, put yourself in Churchills shoes, mull things over and perhaps bear in mind that if it were not for the events that occurred in this small, secret, very special place, our history would be very different.

Not just our recent history. Nazism would effectively have sanitised our ancient history, we might have lost some of the other historical sites that all we know and love and we would probably not be able to make these wonderfully indulgent history programmes.

Being able to immerse yourself in the history, virtually time-travel, is what makes this site much more special than any Castle, Palace or Cathedral.
