It was awful, the biggest pile of rubbish i have seen on TV, and thats bad, because 97% of TV is utter rubbish these days. It looks to have been written by 11 year old boys who got hold of a swear dictionary. the people on it are too just as awful especially Kirsten "very-bitter-about-something-but-i-dont-know-what" O'Brian she tries far too hard to be blokey n one of the guys by saying the crudest things, she is No lady. and the chronically unfunny beardy bloke. i dont know who or what can have made this TV show so bad. If it were a car it would be a ford metro circa 1990something on fire with no wheels and a puke yellow paint job. I dont need to go on. Angry

Love it! Barrie really works, its so funny hearing a puppet talking like that. (I won't call him a muppet, don't want to offend anyone, sorry Barrie)

What a massive pile of steaming crap! In what way was this programme ever intended to be funny? If the entire series has been filmed I can not understand why the first episode did not contain some of the more well known guests, so that there may be some hope of people tuning in next week. Surely this episode was better suited for when people no longer have an interest in pointless puppet related sexual deviance jokes, like week three!

This show can be summed up with two words: Absolute rubbish. I sat through the entire thing without laughing or even feeling mildly amused. The expression on the faces of the panelists said it all: Extreme embarassment with a sense of bewilderment.

The occasional swear word can be funny, if used correctly, but the creators of this show seem to be under the impression that this means you can replace genuine humour with basic innuendo to the same effect.

The whole idea seems mismatched to me, if you're going to make a show filled with dirty jokes and non-stop innuendo then just do it. If you're going to make a show that takes a darkly comic look at life, then do that. However, the two themes are so diametrically opposed that together they make no sense and poor viewing.

Please replace this appalling show with something funny.

Whatever happened to the home of "witty banter"?

This is unfortunately the biggest pile of crap I can remember watching for a very long time. The format and premiss promised it to be very much my cup of tea, and I'm no prude when it comes to a bit of profanity, but this is just a bunch of unimaginative and unwitty has- (or never really have)- beens throwing in random profanities when they frequently can't think of anything better to say. It's not even funny in a Bernard Manning or Chubby Brown stylee as the delivery just makes it sound like schoolchild enemies throwing insults at each other across the playground.
I'm very much not the kind of person who 'writes in' like this (can't usually be bothered), but this crap has me riled enough to go through the registering process to write this.
Maybe it's the useless guests, or maybe it's the writers. Either way, there must be something better the money can be spent on that this.

Well it was certainly funny in places. The comments from Barrie when scolding the panelists was probably the best part, but you could tell that it was produced on a budget roughly equivalent to the cost of a bag of Cheese and Onion crisps.

Kirsten O'Brien was good, simply because she was hot, but the others didn't seem all that into it. And I'm not sure what market research has indicated, but most blokes don't enjoy a hearty sing-song at the end of a show. Lee Evans and Billy Connolly get away with singing because they've made you wet yourself laughing for an hour beforehand, which Barrie did not manage to do.

The show didn't have much of the "witty banter" that Dave is meant to be the home of. The class of humour represented on other shows imported from the BBC (such as Top Gear, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News for You, etc.) is quite different. Barrie seems to have a sense of humour quite similar to this, but the panelists certainly didn't.

However, all these comments can be considered irrelevant, because you showed a picture of a woman's lovelies, which gives this show a resounding 10/10. For next time (assuming you don't have the whole blinking show pre-recorded already), it would be better if the panelists had some idea of what kind of humour is expected. Also, either improve the look and feel of the show (very cheap at the moment) or make it INTENTIONALLY cheap, which is alright (Top Gear's armchairs and old TV, for example).

And the panelists this week didn't seem interested in getting any points. This can be carried off on some shows (i.e. the aformentioned imports), but it just wasn't done well on "And Then You Die" at all.

Honest score? 4/10 for the pilot; lots of room for improvement.

P.S. Having your announcer say "Go to the website and tell us how the show was!" is all well and good, but you shot yourself in the foot a bit with having the available posting times end before the show even started.

Was looking forward to seeing this actually, but unfortunately now feel rather disappointed.
With the exception of about 1 or 2 jokes, I felt that the show was badly planned and generally lacking in comic material.
Would perhaps suggest less time wasting at times, for instance by just giving all three clues at once instead of one by one where they appear ridiculously ambiguous.
It also seemed that most of the contestants really didn't have a clue what was going on (understandable since it's a new show) but still.
Will continue to watch in anticipation anyway Big Grin

It was rubbish. A puppet presenting a "comedy celebrity panel quiz show"? A new low in the ratings war. He's not funny. Most of the guests weren't either.
Terrible stuff. I love comedy, but this is half xxxxd comedy: "Quick we need something funny for a show!", "I have a loo brush and some felt", "Brilliant, what can we make?", How about a silly hat for the presenter to wear?", "No that wont work...", OOO! How about we make the presenter out of it!" "Fantastic, but make it quick were on air in 5....4....3....2...."

The moral; next time take bit longer to think it through

Over the last few weeks the adverts for And Then You Die really tugged at my interest. It looked quirky and funny, something at least worth watching.

I have to apologise for maybe not giving it a real chance then, I only got as far as the ad break. I just couldn't sit through five or minutes of meaningless marketing spiel only to be confronted with the second part of the worst attempt at the comedy panel show format I've had the displeasure to view since Space Cadets (sorry, that's uncalled for. Space Cadets was far better than this worthless excuse).

Cheap sets, eminently forgettable guests and questions seeming dragged from a fetid alley after a disastrous night at Spearmint Rhino. Whoever dreamt this televisual nightmare should be made to actually watch some comedy before being allowed near a budget again (I can just imagine the pitch, "I can't think of any muppet who'd want to present this dirge. Wait a minute...!").

Send all the tapes over to HMRC, they know how to make things disappear.

When most of Dave's output consists of topnotch BBC panel comedy such as Have I Got News for You, QI & Buzzcocks, this really stands out as a steaming shi* horn. Mismanaged low budget low standard puerile embarrassment.

I'd love to see a new comedy channel making the most of the UK's up and coming talent (plenty out there) but this really doesn't cut it. If this is an indication of the quality of Dave's homegrown shows then please, stick to repeats people, please.

Was a bit cringe worthy... the concept is good, the round ideas are good, but the guests were bad.

Pack it with funnier guests and it might work, not a woman who's claim to fame is the kids tv show "smart" and second rate comedians.

Poor show. If this is the best you can come up with, then just keep with the repeats! Your guests can't even grasp the idea that being 'irratated with the fat crisis' means irritated by the trite repetition of fat bashing that's presently in vogue.

Eek

Sweet Jesus!

I have never ever witnessed such utter tedious nonsense before. I sat through this program for whatever time it was (seemed like hours) and didn't laugh once - and that is saying something considering I laughed at The Mighty Boosh at least once.

Some might say that it's a great place to show off new comedy talent (ie. those who the REAL BBC have no interest in) but, in reality, the only reason UKTV gets people like those who were on last night is because they can't afford real talent.

Everything everybody ever said on that program last night was so painfully tedious and embarrassing. UKTVG2 (or "Dave") has a history of showcasing complete, mind-numbingly boring, original crap (remember those presenters who introduced shows before? That bloke and that woman named Stella? It was as if they were recorded 10 hours apart from each other and what they said put me off watching the program! - though they have been sacked, which is a good thing) but this just takes the biscuit.

And another thing - "Dave"? What the hell is that? Oh wait, it's just another attempt by a terrible television channel on Sky that only about 200,000 watch (less than The Salon on Channel 4, I hasten to add) to sound interesting, post-modern and urbane. In the end, you jusdt end up falling flat on your xxxx. At least when you were UKTVG2, you were honest. Now it just seems as if you are trying too hard to impress.

And Then You Die ………..Lets hope ‘Dave’ will kill this amateurish toe curling embarrassing show.

Only a not too bright nine year old could possibly find the gross comments and forced humor funny.

I like ‘Dave’ and its eclectic mix of light entertainment but if this show is allowed to continue it can only damage the channel.

this was shockingly bad!

so bad that for the first time i've been prompted to post on a TV station's forum!

Dave is fortunate to have secured some of the highest quality entertainment available from the likes of the BBC archive with QI, Top Gear, Have I Got News etc. and in doing so has made a huge leap forward as a desirable channel to watch - please don't undo all your good work by continuing with programs like "And then you die" - treat it as a lesson learned and consign it to the scrap heap before your reputation is done any more harm.

thank god that most of you think this way, i was losing hope for humanity, but reading this gives me faith, people with brains actually do exist.
I reckon the son/daughter; (most likely son, as women (most women) wouldn't come up with such mindless filth) of a TV producer wanted a shot at making a program, he envisioned it to be cutting edge and all those other things that overpaid people in suits think the british public want to see. Do they think we are all stupid? we will just applaud like seals on crack at anything that the idiot box throws up in our laps?.

Please excuse any spelling errors, but my last remaining brain cell is about to expire...
there's been a lot of slating of the guests so far, but I think that's a little unfair - to me they seemed rather embarrassed at the whole affair, as if they knew it was horribly bad and going downhill fast. My socks are funnier, and they're really unfunny. No, really.
Just show old Beeb stuff and give it up as a bad lot - apart from the Brittas Empire, which was almost as bad.
Tarrah. Tongue
